Scoop

The little girl licked her ice cream cone happily. Each nudge set the scoop a little more precariously on the edge of the cone. Only a few more pushes and the ice cream would topple over the side, landing with a soft thud at her feet. I watched and wondered who would step up and stop the process.

  2. I remember all too well the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomache when the ball of ice cream would drop to the sidewalk. It's like a lover walking out without saying goodbye. There's just no going back.

  3. My son dropped his just licked sucker at the mall this afternoon and I saw the tragedy play out in his eyes followed by the crumpling of his little body into a sobbing ball on the floor.

I remember that feeling well. I wish I could have prevented it.
